Tether Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 September 2026 Tether is a pregnancy tracking app for iPhone. This policy explains what happens to what you put into it.

The short version

Tether has no accounts, no servers, and no analytics. Everything you log stays on your iPhone and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud account. The developer of Tether cannot see any of it. Nothing is sold, shared with advertisers, or sent to any third party.

What Tether stores

Tether stores only what you enter or approve:

This information is written to your device. It is not transmitted to the developer.

Where it is kept

On your iPhone. All of your entries live in the app's own storage on your device, protected by iOS device encryption. In your iCloud account. If you are signed in to iCloud, Tether syncs your entries to the private database of your own iCloud account so you don't lose them and so a partner you invite can see them. This is your iCloud storage, governed by Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy. The developer has no access to it and no ability to read it. Tether does not operate any server of its own. There is no Tether account to create and no Tether database that holds your information.

Sharing with a partner

You may invite one or more people (typically a partner) to follow your pregnancy. If you do:

invite can accept. A forwarded link will not work for anyone else.

your bump photos, your baby nickname, and, if you have Apple Health sync on, your latest heart rate and blood oxygen.

the data is deleted from their device when they disconnect. Sharing is entirely optional and off until you send an invite.

Apple Health

If you turn on Apple Health sync, Tether reads:

Tether only ever reads this data; it never writes to Apple Health. With your permission, Apple Health may wake the app briefly in the background to pass along new readings. Health data is used only to show you your own information inside the app, and to show it to a partner you have invited. It is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with any third party or disclosed to anyone else. You can revoke access at any time in the iPhone Settings app, under Privacy & Security > Health.

Camera and photos

Tether asks for camera access only when you take a bump photo, and for permission to add to your photo library only if you choose to save one. It does not read your photo library.

Notifications

Tether can send reminders (water, medications, bump photo milestones) if you allow them. These are scheduled on your device. No notification content leaves your phone.

What Tether does not do

Children

Tether is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Your control over your information

Because your information lives on your device and in your iCloud account, you control it directly:

device and from your iCloud

Settings app under your name > iCloud > Manage Account Storage Since the developer holds no copy of your information, requests to access or delete data can be carried out entirely by you, in the app. If you need help doing so, contact us at the address below.

Security

Your entries are protected by iOS device encryption on your iPhone, and by Apple's encryption of iCloud data in transit and at rest. Sharing with a partner uses Apple's iCloud sharing, limited to the people you invite and to read-only access. No copy exists outside your devices, your iCloud account, and the device of a partner you have invited.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top will be updated, and the current version will always be available at this address.
